Seven Stages of Recovery
Recovery is a gradual process and you will need to take one stage at a time. Do not set a time limit for the stages. What may appear impossible now will become possible in time.

ACCEPT
Accept that you have a dependency and that you will need to learn to live with it. The mental act of acceptance is the biggest step you can take towards recovery.
ASK
Recognise that while only you can overcome your problem, others have expertise and experience you can draw on. Be open to all potential areas of learning.
ADMIT
This is about what you did or caused: what others did to you in the past will be dealt with later. Afterwards you will feel a great sense of release.
FACE
Now is the time to start dealing with the baggage you are left with. Face issues one at a time, preferably with the support of others who understand.
LET GO
People with addictions often have unhappy memories, but strangely it may be hard to let go of some of your past; it is familiar and is part of you.
CHANGE
Old habits die hard, so in order to help break the cycle you need to change your routine.
In-Dependence can help you to rearrange your lifestyle.
REST
Recovering from addiction can feel like hard work at the beginning; some say it is the hardest thing they have ever done. It is important that you allow space to recharge your batteries.
Recovery can seem like an endless road full of pitfalls. The Seven Stages will help you identify both your strengths and your danger areas, and focus your energies where they are most needed.
Our trained therapists can help you recognise the stages and guide you through them.
