How does In-Dependence work?

At In-Dependence, we do not judge each other for becoming addicted.  You will be made to feel comfortable whether you are living on the streets or in the public eye.  We welcome you whatever your race, religion, ability, gender, sexuality, background or circumstances.

What can I expect from therapy?

Our experienced addiction therapists will help you look at why and how you have become dependent.   Our time will be divided between learning about addiction, developing strategies to combat it, and discussing concerns that may be very deep and affect your recovery.  We encourage you to be open and honest about your addiction but only discuss personal issues if and when you feel ready.   We do not take trust for granted, we expect to earn it and recognise this can take time.

What if it is someone else who has the problem?

In-Dependence offers therapy to relatives and friends of people who have an addiction problem.

How long does recovery take?

Recovery can be as long as a piece of string.  Our programme is adaptable to your needs and lifestyle.   As a guide we recommend individual and group therapy once a week for three months, then once a month for six months.   You may keep coming back for support, further therapy, or to encourage others.

Where do I start?

Phone, text, email or write to us to make an appointment.   Or if you can’t face contacting us direct, ask your doctor or someone else who knows you or has been working with you to contact us for you.   The first thing we will do is chat with you, over the phone or face to face.   Then we will arrange a meeting and give you a copy of our self-help pack.   If you decide to join our programme, we will support you all the way.

Fees

Please ask us about our fees.  In some areas our therapy is subsidised and funding may be available for our groups and transport service.
